Of course as a Hairdressing NVQ Level 2/3 student working in a top salon, you will do your share of coffee making, sweeping up and making sure the salon is clean and tidy. But you can be sure it does not stop there! At first you will learn the simple skills of hairdressing such as the correct method of shampooing, how to remove hair colour, how to deal with clients, answering the telephone and learning how to schedule appointments. As your confidence develops you will learn more skills such as how to blow dry hair correctly, how to dress hair, how to apply colour and much, much more.

Sarah Finnerty - Senior Hair Designer
Senior Hair Designer and salon favourite Sarah first discovered her love for hair at Antony’s Hair Salon in 2005 during her school work experience at Coney Green High School. Originally planning to attend college to train as a hairdresser, Sarah’s talent and dedication during her placement impressed the team so much that she was offered an apprenticeship with Antony's instead.
By the age of 17, Sarah had completed her NVQ Level 2 and then went on to complete her Level 3 in Hairdressing (2008), quickly rising through the ranks to become a Senior Hair Designer. Today, she is one of the salon’s busiest and most trusted stylists, known for her skill, professionalism, and friendly approach.
Alongside her thriving career, Sarah has welcomed two children into her life and returned to Antony’s in February 2017 following maternity leave. Her loyal clients were thrilled to have her back, and she continues to be a favourite for both new and regular clients alike.
Sarah on her apprenticeship experience:
"In-salon training is so much more personal — you can learn at your own pace. It only took me 1 year and 4 months to qualify because I had fantastic support and plenty of models to practice on. Once you start passing off skills, you begin working in the salon environment, learning to manage busy columns and timings, which makes you more commercially productive. The best part? You earn while you learn and have a job waiting for you at the end."
